X5 - E53, E70, F15, F85 (2000-2006). X3 - X83, F25 (2004-2010). You should be able to do this by turning the transfer case shift shaft with a crescent wrench. In order to remove the shift motor and install the new one, you’ll need to get the transfer case shifted into its neutral position.
