Gear selector unit removed from 1990 R129 SL. Removed due to wood on gear knob flaking and distortion in the wood laminate bass. Was functioning perfectly when removed. Gear knob is a simple pull off to replace. Please study the photos to see the damage to the wood. All electrical pins look excellent.
