The larger of the two connector shells provides a ‘Passenger Seat Occupied’ signal which requires the belt to be buckled to silence the seat belt alarm. The smaller connector provides the system with a permanent ‘Passenger Seat Belt Buckled’ signal which will inhibit the seat belt alarm, although passengers need to ensure their seat belt is buckled in the absence of an alarm.
