I was unfortunate as my interior trim was ruined by the failure of my mirror in my E46 M3. I've owned a E46 M3 and my rear view mirror failed and so have thousands. An electronic circuit board is attached to the rear of the mirror with wire leads soldered to the edges of the glass.
